a day at the races!

Yesterday was a fun filled day spent at the races. Our day started at 5:30 am to make it to Ford Island 10K Bridge Run on time. The gun sounded at 7:00 am and it was so fun to know that my family was there cheering me on. While it was not my personal best it was still a good run and I met my goal to finish before the 1hr mark and place before my bib number of 492. I came in 489 out of 1578 and my chip time was 56:39 I place 23rd in my age group you can view all the results here. Sorry we forgot the camera but that should not be to big a disappointment unless you really want to know what I look like all sweaty and gross. We taped conference, so after the run we went home and watched it before the afternoon session started.
Later that evening Riley had his first pinewood derby and did very well. He tied for first place and had a lot of fun. We had an extra car so Lorenzo made one too and was able to race with the other boys. He loved it and is now bugging Jeremy to make him his own track to race on at home. All in all it was a good day!

Wow Briana! You are an inspiration! That's fantastic! I'm happy to see happy boy scout faces. Still trying to get our scouts up and running, it's quite a challenge to start from scratch! Way to go Riley and Lorenzo!

I laughed when I saw Riley's car because it is the spitting image of Michael's first car ... down to the navy blue with red stripes. It makes me think that possibly that is what the Ward boys cars looked like when they were growing up (?)!! So cute!
Congratulations, Riley. That is so awesome you tied for first. What a great car you made! Briana, who knew you had all of that in you? That was a mighty impressive run and even more impressive all of the training that went into it. You must feel on top of the world!
